One of my preferred local river spots, easy access to both the rivers and slough.
- Weather
- Tide Chart
Willamette and Columbia River:
The local topography is low and flat, so it is sometimes windy, making the water choppy. The tides can also be a factor, and can interact with the wind to produce turbulent water.
Often has boat traffic in the channel, producing wake. People will also be along the shore, generally fishing and walking dogs.
Lower Columbia Slough:
The Slough is protected by its banks, so tends to be calm. Birds are more common here, but because it is a channel, you will generally drive them upstream in front of you.
